Qu\u2019elle provienne de la condensation dans les syst\u00e8mes de ventilation des r\u00e9servoirs, de bouchons de r\u00e9servoir non \u00e9tanches, de livraisons de carburant avec une teneur en eau \u00e9lev\u00e9e ou des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s hygroscopiques des composants biocarburants modernes : l\u2019eau p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans le r\u00e9servoir de carburant par de multiples voies \u2014 et de l\u00e0 dans l\u2019ensemble du syst\u00e8me d\u2019injection. <\/p><p>Les cons\u00e9quences sont graves. Le spectre des dommages va de la corrosion des pompes d\u2019injection et des aiguilles d\u2019injecteur aux d\u00e9g\u00e2ts de cavitation, jusqu\u2019aux pannes compl\u00e8tes du syst\u00e8me de propulsion. Lors des variations de temp\u00e9rature entre le jour et la nuit ainsi qu\u2019entre l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 et l\u2019hiver, l\u2019humidit\u00e9 contenue dans l\u2019air se condense sur les parois froides du r\u00e9servoir et s\u2019accumule au fond. Ils fixent activement l\u2019eau de l\u2019air ambiant, ce qui acc\u00e9l\u00e8re et intensifie la s\u00e9paration de l\u2019eau dans le syst\u00e8me de carburant. Celles-ci attaquent \u00e9lectrochimiquement les surfaces m\u00e9talliques des pompes d\u2019injection, des syst\u00e8mes common rail, des aiguilles d\u2019injecteur et des conduites. Les bulles de vapeur ainsi form\u00e9es implosent lors du retour \u00e0 des pressions plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es et provoquent des dommages de cavitation sur les surfaces m\u00e9talliques. Ces micro-organismes produisent une biomasse qui colmate les filtres, ainsi que des acides organiques qui provoquent la corrosion des m\u00e9taux et des dommages aux joints.
